01Pre-migration audit
0 / 8
Every Shopify migration project starts with a full data transfer audit. Baseline everything you will compare against after launch. Read: Shopify SEO migration.
02Data inventory & export
0 / 9
A standard migration includes products, customers, orders, SEO metadata, content pages, blog posts, reviews and discount codes. Customer passwords cannot be migrated.
03SEO preservation plan
0 / 8
We implement 301 redirects, map legacy URLs and carry over vital data so you do not lose rankings. URL formats differ per platform, so mapping is never one-to-one.
04Theme & storefront rebuild
0 / 8
We rebuild your store on Shopify with better architecture and faster performance — Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks, targeting 90+ Lighthouse scores. See Shopify theme development.
05Apps & integrations
0 / 8
App data moves too: a Klaviyo migration keeps flows, segments and profiles intact, and Recharge subscription contracts transfer without re-billing customers. Enterprise builds need ERP, PIM, CRM and 3PL connections.
06Payments, taxes & shipping
0 / 8
Default to Shopify Payments unless you have a compelling reason not to — it avoids the extra third-party gateway fee. Model this in the Shopify Plus pricing calculator.
07Testing & QA
0 / 9
Test with real data before launch. We perform SEO audits before and after launch so rankings hold.
08Launch & cutover
0 / 8
Zero-downtime cutover: lower DNS TTL in advance, freeze content on the legacy platform, run a final delta sync, then switch. Guide: zero-downtime migration.
09Post-launch monitoring
0 / 8
After launch, we stay. Monitor 404s, rankings, speed and conversion for at least 30 days and fix redirect gaps quickly. Ongoing help: on-demand Shopify support.
How to run a Shopify migration with this checklist
Work the nine phases in order. Phases 1–3 (audit, data inventory, SEO plan) happen before any theme work and decide whether the migration protects your rankings. Phases 4–6 run in parallel: the storefront rebuild, app and integration replacement, and payments, tax and shipping setup. Phase 7 is a full QA pass on a test store with real data. Phase 8 is a single cutover day with a lowered DNS TTL and a content freeze. Phase 9 is 30–60 days of monitoring before you switch the legacy platform off.
Assign an owner to every task, tick tasks as they complete, and use Copy as plan to paste the whole list into Jira, Notion or a spreadsheet. The checklist covers what we migrate on every project: products, customers, orders, SEO metadata, content pages, blog posts, reviews, discount codes, and app data such as Klaviyo flows and Recharge subscription contracts. For a scoped plan with timeline and cost, talk to our Shopify migration experts; to estimate what the new platform will cost, use the Shopify Plus pricing calculator.
Platform-specific migration guides
Each migration follows a platform-specific process because data structures, URL formats and extension ecosystems differ significantly.
- WooCommerce to Shopify — plugin conflicts and performance debt; move catalogs, customers, orders, blog content and SEO with full URL redirects.
- Magento (Adobe Commerce) to Shopify — highest complexity: custom modules, multi-store setups, configurable products, ERP integrations.
- BigCommerce to Shopify — typically faster thanks to cleaner exports.
- Wix to Shopify and wholesale channel migration.
- Shopify SEO migration and the zero-downtime cutover guide.

A small catalog on a clean platform can move in 3–4 weeks. Magento or Salesforce Commerce Cloud stores with custom modules, ERP integrations and multi-store setups typically take 2–4 months including theme rebuild and QA.
